Nashville-based singer-songwriter Gabe Dixon releases his new album, Live in Boston, September 8 on birnCORE. Dixon’s first solo piano release, Live in Boston was recorded at Berklee’s Red Room at Cafe 939 in September 2016. Dixon delivers a blistering nine-song set featuring some of his most popular songs, including “Crave,” “Flow Like Wine,” and “All Will Be Well.” BirnCORE is the Berklee Internet Radio Network’s (BIRN) independent record label.

BirnCORE gives Berklee students the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of operating an independent record label and emphasizes performance, musicianship, and collaboration. Dixon’s album was recorded and mixed by students Brian Rajaratnam and Andres Felipe Gonzalez Cardona, respectively, and student Isabel Kret (who has since graduated) designed the album cover.

Live in Boston is the follow-up to Dixon’s 2016 sophomore solo album, Turns to Gold. Produced by Paul Moak (Mat Kearney, Third Day), the LP marked Dixon’s first collection as an independent artist. Turns to Gold was featured in Rolling Stone, the Huffington Post, American Songwriter, Elmore Magazine, AllMusic, Relix magazine, Indie Shuffle, and more. Paste Magazine called it “heart-wrenchingly honest,” and No Depression said it’s “simply an exceptional album” with “all the makings of a big breakthrough.”

Throughout his career, many notable artists have supported Dixon. He has held side gigs as the keyboardist and vocalist for Paul McCartney, Alison Krauss and Union Station, O.A.R., and Supertramp, and opened for and toured with Loggins and Messina, Gavin DeGraw, and Delta Rae. His songs have appeared on television shows including Parks and Recreation, Grey’s Anatomy, and The Vampire Diaries, and his song “Find My Way” served as the opening theme for the movie The Proposal starring Sandra Bullock. He has performed twice on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, as well as at festivals including Bonnaroo and High Sierra Music Festival.

BIRN Cooperative Recordings (birnCORE) records and releases live music from some of today's best independent artists. The label’s releases have included Club d’Elf, Matador, Brooke Waggoner, Damn Tall Buildings, and Jesca Hoop.
