Online students got a brick-and-mortar experience at Berklee in June during the first-ever Berklee Onsite, a three-day music conference packed with workshops, panels, and performances led by Berklee faculty and industry professionals. Berklee Online welcomed nearly 100 of its students representing 10 countries to the Boston campus for the inaugural conference, which also provided the opportunity for students to stay in the new 160 Massachusetts Avenue residence hall.

Online students flew into Boston from countries as far away as Romania and Kenya. Topics covered ranged from music performance to music business, with special guests including Berklee President Roger H. Brown, bass legend Victor Wooten, and Casey Rae of the Future of Music Coalition. In addition to receiving musical instruction in areas such as production and songwriting, students also had ample networking opportunities.

"Students had been telling us for a long time that they wanted an opportunity to come to campus to get the full Berklee experience and meet their peers, instructors, and advisors," said Emily Conrad, Berklee Online's associate director of marketing and coordinator of Berklee Onsite. "We were thrilled when the opportunity arose to invite our students to meet us in Boston and stay in the 160 Massachusetts Avenue dormitory.

"We wanted to make sure that every student had a chance to experience what it's like to be an on-campus student, from studying with an instructor in a classroom setting, to eating in the dining hall, to taking in a show at the Berklee Performance Center," she continued. "When everyone arrived, we could immediately sense the enthusiasm and energy that the group brought to campus with them. It was an honor to be a part of this event and experience the community that our students have developed through Berklee Online."
