Berklee in Valencia: Four Graduate Programs to Launch Next Fall

Berklee's Valencia campus will roll out its first set of graduate programs in fall, 2012.
October 25, 2011

Beginning in September 2012, Berklee in Valencia will offer four graduate programs, marking the college's first slate of advanced degrees: contemporary studio performance; scoring for film, television, and video games; electronic production and design; and global entertainment and music business. These master of music degree programs offer in three semesters focused and specialized areas of study to take musicians' careers to the next level.

The contemporary studio performance program focuses on concert performance skills in a variety of styles, from salsa to rock to Afro-Cuban jazz to bluegrass. Students will also get schooled on studio skills, and technological and entrepreneurial tools. Led by master musicians, the program provides opportunities for students to perform, record, and develop a digital promotional package of their music.

The scoring for film, television, and video games program takes scoring to another realm. Students will compose, orchestrate, edit, and integrate music for these mediums through this advanced program.

With the electronic production and design program, students will create, manipulate, and mix, working in specialized lab, studio, and performance facilities to develop tools they'll need to be leaders in this cutting-edge field, including legal and business aspects of scoring.

Through the global entertainment and music business program, students will learn to navigate the rapidly changing global music and entertainment industries. They'll also tackle the legal, financial, artistic, and ethical issues associated with the business. Management or entrepreneurial tracks are offered.
