Berklee College of Music will award a full-tuition scholarship to the winner of the Six String Theory Yamaha International Guitar Competition, which runs from October 1, 2009, to February 1, 2010. The contest is the brainchild of renowned guitarist and producer Lee Ritenour and is cosponsored by Monster Cable, D'Addario Strings, Berklee, and Captain Fingers Productions.

To enter, guitarists should submit audition videos online for one of six categories: rock, blues, jazz/fusion, country, acoustic, and classical/flamenco. The six finalists, one from each category, will compete for the grand prize, March 22, 2010, at the Broad Stage, in Santa Monica, CA. The winner, in addition to receiving the Berklee scholarship, will be a featured guest on the album Six String Theory. For more information, visit sixstringtheory.com

The album will feature superstar guitarists from the worlds of rock, blues, country, jazz/fusion, acoustic, and classical/flamenco, blending their styles to create a new fusion sound. The record, coproduced by Ritenour and Concord Records Executive VP John Burk, will be released on Concord Records and Monster Music in the summer of 2010.
