Newpark Music Centre - Dublin, Ireland
Founded in 1979 to provide much-needed music school facilities in South Dublin, Ireland, Newpark Music Centre now serves more than 1,000 students and is one of the largest private music schools in Dublin. The Jazz and Contemporary Music Department was established in 1986 and the school is now recognized as the primary center for jazz and jazz-related music education in Ireland; Newpark is also a founding member of the International Association of Schools of Jazz (IASJ). The school’s mission is to provide quality music education for children and adults, to strive for excellence while focusing on enjoyment, and to train—and foster a love of music in—both recreational and professional musicians.
Newpark Music Centre is pleased to be able to offer both a bachelor of arts in jazz performance, a non-classical undergraduate music performance degree, and the Berklee track, a higher certificate in arts program in contemporary music that provides a thorough grounding in professional musicianship while preparing students for entry into Berklee. The bachelor’s program is a level 8 honors degree and the Berklee track is a level 6 higher certificate in arts; both are validated by Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI).
Newpark Music Centre operates across two campuses, with facilities for individual and ensemble performance, rehearsal, and composition. Newpark is proud to educate a high percentage of international students. In addition to being a BIN partner and an IASJ member, Newpark is a member of the International Rhythm Studies Association (IRSA) and the European Modern Music Education Network (EMMEN). Newpark’s staff is drawn from the finest performers and teachers from Ireland and abroad, ensuring that students are constantly kept up to date with the latest musical techniques, concepts, and trends.
