Fixing Your I-94 Record
It is important to check your I-94 electronic record each time you enter the U.S. Your I-94 electronic record should reflect your most recent date of entry and show that you entered the U.S. as an F-1 student.
Sometimes you may experience problems retrieving your I-94 record or find that it shows incorrect information. It is important that you follow these instructions to request that your record be fixed.
How to Correct I-94 Information:Email Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at email@example.com with the following information:
- Subject line: I-94 Correction for: [Your Name]
- Your completed CBP I-94 Correction Request Form
- A scanned copy of the biographical page from your passport
- Scanned copies of your F-1 visa, your Form I-20, and any other relevant travel documents
CBP's Deferred Inspections Office will decide if the information you've submitted is sufficient to make the correction or whether you will need to appear in person at the Deferred Inspections Office (located at Boston's Logan International Airport, Terminal E). CBP may contact you to request additional information prior to making a decision. If your request is approved, the correction will be completed within three business days.
Students are asked to check the online I-94 system to ensure that the correction has been made. CBP will not send notification of the correction via email. If after three business days the correction has not been made, then you may contact CBP.
