Careers and Outcomes:
Each semester students have the opportunity to provide feedback on each class and instructor by completing their course evaluations. Faculty and administrators use these evaluations to plan and refine the curriculum, gauge the performance of instructors, and ensure that students are getting the best education possible. Course evaluations contain no identifying information that can trace the individual responses back to the student.
The Valencia campus regularly surveys students to get a clear and consistent picture of the student experience. In addition to gauging student satisfaction with their experience, the survey also asked students to report on their post-graduation career plans.
In spring 2015, Berklee administered the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), an instrument assessing the amount of time and effort students put into their studies and into other educationally purposeful activities associated with high levels of learning and development. Berklee also administered the Faculty Survey of Student Engagement (FSSE), a complementary survey assessing faculty perceptions of their students' engagement. The NSSE/FSSE results are both diagnostic and actionable; they can be used to identify priority areas for improvement, formulate and implement action plans, and to circle back to assess the impact of those efforts over multiple years. The survey is used by close to 600 schools across North America.
In spring 2016, Berklee administered a survey to all Boston-based students to measure student satisfaction with various aspects of the Library and Learning Center. The topics of the survey included student usage; interlibrary loan service; staff services; study space and computer labs; events; and printing, scanning, and photocopying services.
The National Study of Learning, Voting, and Engagement (NSLVE) measures student voter registration and the voting rates of students who are eligible to vote in U.S. elections. These results are based on enrollment records submitted to the National Student Clearninghouse and publicly available voting files collected by Catalist. The Institute of Democracy and Higher Education at Tufts University organizes this data and submits it to participating institutions to help learn about their students' political engagement. The Berklee College of Music report is available for viewing.
For more information about NSLVE, please visit the study's website.
Berklee surveys graduating students each spring about their immediate postgraduation plans, as well as students' assessment of their overall and academic experience at Berklee. It also provides an opportunity to collect contact information so Berklee can stay in touch with students after they graduate.
Berklee surveys its alumni every two years to engage with former students, assess their professional and personal success, learn how they feel about Berklee, and determine what Berklee can do to support them. View the infographics from the 2016 alumni survey below, or view the full report.
Berklee's International Career Center in Valencia, Spain, surveys alumni from the Valencia graduate programs yearly. This survey captures current career-related information, awards and achievements, and how alumni would like to re-engage with Berklee.
