In this video, you'll hear about the Guitar Department's plans to deliver our comprehensive music curriculum in an engaging hybrid environment for spring 2021.
Letter from the Chairs
Hello, Berklee Guitarists!
Welcome back for our spring 2021 semester at Berklee College of Music! We are excited to be together on our hybrid campus, and to support you as you prepare for future work in our ever-changing professional community. Our greatest skill as musicians is our ability to adapt. Right now, we all have an opportunity to seize this moment of change and work together on the skills that will allow you to realize the potential of your music. You are an essential member of our guitar community, and we are looking forward to working with you—with your music, your creativity, and your spirit.
Our chairs and faculty have designed lesson plans that explore the essential elements of music on our instrument, and will prepare you for both the remote and in-person aspects of our profession. Seventeen of our 51 guitar faculty will be offering courses and lessons in all styles on campus. All of our faculty will be teaching remotely—offering lessons, labs, and ensembles via Zoom. All students may study remotely and on campus, or exclusively on our remote campus. We will guide you in choosing the faculty, lessons, and courses that are best for your education, regardless of “where” they are offered.
All faculty will have virtual office hours, and look forward to meeting you there. We’ve adapted our department events for our hybrid campus, and will have a full schedule of master classes, guest and faculty artist clinics, senior recitals, student club meetings, and our Solo/Duo Faculty Guitar Night. In addition, our performance, writing, and education divisions will hold weekly events open to all of us. Our virtual guitar office is open each weekday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please email us with questions, or for a Zoom appointment with chairs and coordinators. Specifically, write us with questions about degree plans, part-time options, and scheduling needs.
As always: Send us your videos for our department social media. We would like to promote your recitals, projects, and your informal playing. Follow us for daily posts from students, faculty, chairs, and alumni on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter; look for: berkleeguitardepartment.
We are looking forward to seeing and hearing you!
