Elvis Legacy Week: Music Makes an Artist, Style Makes an Icon
Monday, April 3–Friday, April 7, 2017
BerkleeICE is partnering with American Crew, a Revlon brand, and Elvis Presley Enterprises for a week-long celebration of Elvis Presley through a unique showcase and educational experience honoring one of the most influential artists of all time. As a trailblazer of music and culture that blurred the social and racial barriers of the time, Elvis ushered in a new era of American music and pop culture. Still a top grossing brand in music, his long-lasting persona continues to inspire today's musicians, designers, entrepreneurs, and social influencers.
The week will showcase Elvis's entrepreneurial prowess and foresight in building an illustrious brand. As the week's sponsor, American Crew will host styling workshops throughout the week, teaching students about building their own personal style.
The celebration will also feature panels of Elvis experts, guest speakers, and intimate discussions with those who knew him best as well as various on-campus events based on Elvis's music, legacy, brand, and personal style, including an exhibition of artifacts from his estate. The week will culminate in a Singers Showcase, featuring vocals by Berklee's award-winning a capella group, Pitch Slapped, and 10 of Berklee's student vocalists performing Elvis classics. One student will be selected from the Singers Showcase to headline his or her own concert at Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee, this summer.
