Applying for the Summer Internship Program in New York City

To be eligible for the Berklee Summer Internship Program in New York City, students must apply several months before the summer in which they want to participate. The Office of Experiential Learning (OEL) will accept and review applications for the summer 2014 program on a rolling basis, beginning in October 2013. Applications for the summer 2014 N.Y. Program are due by 5:00 p.m. on February 14, 2014. Late applications will not be accepted.

The following materials are required to apply (more details on these requirements are in the application materials):

  • A completed application
  • Current resumé
  • Transcript
  • Two letters of recommendation or a typed list of three professional references
  • Personal essay

Representatives from the OEL will review application materials and interview all qualified candidates in person. Program acceptance is based on the following criteria:

  • How clearly candidates demonstrate that an internship will enhance their academic and career goals.
  • Recommendations from professional and personal references, as well as feedback from students' major chair.
  • GPA and overall judicial standing with the college.

Once accepted to the program, the OEL helps students prepare for their summer in New York in several ways. The OEL assists with resumé, cover letter, and interview preparation. We also help students identify and apply to various internship sites. Orientation sessions are held in Boston and New York to assist students with preparing to go to NYC and then to help them acclimate to their new surroundings upon arrival.

Please read the application materials carefully. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
