Eve Fleishman ’05 designed Yoga for Musicians to help artists with repetitive stress issues common to practice and performance.
Connect with fellow alumni while you strengthen and prepare your body for the physical demands of everyday tasks such as prolonged sitting or standing, computer use, singing, or playing instruments. We will learn tune-up exercises to incorporate throughout the day; develop breathing techniques to combat fatigue and positively affect the nervous system; build postural awareness to help reduce chronic tensions; and explore better sleep strategies and meditation. This class is perfect for anyone interested in mind-body connection, especially those with neck, shoulder, or back pain associated with repetitive activities.
Fleishman, a certified yoga teacher and yoga therapist in the Viniyoga tradition, is especially interested in using yoga as a tool for stress reduction. She has more than 1,000 hours of training in body awareness and chronic health conditions, and has been practicing yoga since 1999. She began teaching Yoga for Musicians classes while living in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2006.
