Suzanna Sifter, professor in the Piano Department, author of Berklee Jazz Keyboard Harmony: Using Upper Structure Triads, and instructor of the labs Upper Structure Triad Applications 1 and 2, will be giving a clinic on upper structure triads.

In this clinic, Sifter will teach you how to find and name upper structure triads for the most commonly used chord types. You will learn the formula for quick tension-specific recall for each chord quality. Many practice methods will be explored. This clinic focuses on the harmonic usage of upper structure triads, such as comping open-position voicings and harmonizing melodies.
