Tonina Saputo
Student singer and bassist Tonina Saputo performs with her band at the prestigious Ellas Crean Festival in Madrid, Spain. The multidisciplinary festival is organized by the Spanish government institution Women and Equality of Opportunities, which promotes women artists and young female talent.
Saputo will perform traditional Sicilian songs and other Mediterranean classics under the direction of Javier Limón, artistic director of the Mediterranean Music Institute. She will be accompanied by students Heather Rivas on piano and bassist Lucy Clifford on bass, as well as by flamenco percussionist Israel "Piraña" Suaréz .
The festival takes place in the historic Conde Duque Cultural Center and will include performances by Greek singer Savina Yannatou, Morrocan singer Hindi Zahra, and American singer-songwriter Sophie Auster.
