In the final concert of the 2013 Tito Puente Latin Music Series, the Latin Heartbeat Orchestra perform salsa numbers that are sure to please both those who want to dance and those who want to sit back and listen. Founded by William Mendoza, the Latin Heartbeat Orchestra includes Carlos Olivera (vocals), Julio Salgado (vocals), Evan Runyon (bass), Damian Curtis (piano), Jesse “Timbalon” Perez (percussion), Edgar “Papo” Jimmy (percussion), Tony Gonzalez (percussion), Anthony Sisson (trumpet), Berklee College of Music alumnus Brian Wallace (trumpet), Dave Zoni (trombone), James Monaghan (trombone), and Andrew Studenski (baritone saxophone). Together, these talented musicians produce exciting renditions of salsa classics as well as energy-infused original compositions.
The Tito Puente Latin Music Series takes place in July and August at outdoor locations across Boston. The six-concert series is an infectious soundscape of salsa, bolero, danzón, Afro-Latin, Caribbean, jazz, funk, R&B, and more. Performers include Berklee faculty, students, alumni, and world-renowned artists from Puerto Rico, Cuba, Ecuador, Brazil, and throughout Latin America.
