Fresh off the heels of its 2014 Grammy win, Snarky Puppy released its latest album, We Like It Here. Recorded live in the Pups' signature style, the album debuted at No. 1 on iTunes jazz charts across the world and established the band as the standard bearers for a new movement in jazz. Once based in Texas and now in New York, this quasi-collective has gone from the best-kept secret to one of the most respected names in instrumental music. Although still underground in many respects, the band has earned high praise from critical stalwarts like the BBC, the Village Voice, the Guardian, and the Boston Herald, and has performed at some of the best venues and festivals in Asia, Europe, Australia, and North America.
Philip Lassiter’s contribution and relevance to the music industry are as diverse and celebrated as he is. The highlights of his career include production and arranging work for seven Grammy-winning projects with Fred Hammond and Kirk Franklin in addition to working as section leader, arranger, and lead trumpeter for Prince. Lassiter is revered as a sought-after songwriter (Society of European Stage Authors and Composers) and jazz musician whose talents earned him an endorsement with Cannonball Instruments and a recent record deal with GroundUP Records. He's also the musician behind the funk group Philthy.
