David Ellefson of Megadeth will take part in a conversation with Steve Bailey, chair of the Bass Department, about living and playing successfully at Berklee and beyond. Electric bassist Ellefson has been a mainstay of the rock and metal communities for the past 30 years. Internationally acclaimed as the co-founding bassist of Thrash Metal titans Megadeth, he is known for his unique, hard-hitting style of playing bass, as well as his versatility in a variety of other musical settings. Ellefson is an accomplished bassist, songwriter, record producer, and clinician, as well as the author of Making Music Your Business … A Guide For Young Musicians. He has been nominated for 10 Grammy Awards, and has many gold and platinum records. Ellefson holds a bachelor’s degree in business marketing and lectures on a variety of music- and business-related topics in his online YouTube series David Ellefson’s ROCK SHOP.

Baily, the chair of Berklee's Bass Department, has toured and recorded with the likes of Dizzy Gillespie, Willie Nelson, Jethro Tull, Paquito D’Rivera, Larry Carlton, and the Rippingtons. He has performed concerts and clinics all over the world, and for more than 20 years has partnered with fellow bassist Victor Wooten in numerous projects, including the cutting-edge group Bass Extremes. Most recently, he has been touring with bass legends Lee Sklar and Jonas Hellborg in the three-bass group JoStLe, as well as with Wooten for his latest release Words and Tones, and Sword and Stone.
