Celebrate 60 years of bossa nova with Bebel Gilberto and Sergio Mendes, one of Brazil's most successful artists and a multiple Grammy-winning producer, composer, keyboardist, and vocalist.

Bossa nova was born on July 10, 1958, at the old Odeon recording studios in Rio de Janeiro. On that day, João Gilberto recorded "Chega de Saudade," the first bossa nova song, marking the beginning of a musical and worldwide cultural phenomenon. Bossa nova vocalist Bebel Gilberto, daughter of João Gilberto, made her Carnegie Hall debut at age 9 with her mother, the singer Miúcha, and saxophonist Stan Getz.
