Samuel Batista is an alto saxophone player from Panama City, Panama. Thanks to the encouragement of Panamanian pianist Walter Smith, Batista joined the Centro Bilingüe Vista Alegre High School marching band in 2005, becoming the first musician in his family.

Batista received the prestigious Presidential Scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music in 2012. After auditioning for the Berklee Global Jazz Institute, he obtained admission to the program in spring 2015.

Batista graduated from the college in 2017 after collaborating with musicians such as Danilo Pérez, John Patitucci, Joe Lovano, and Terri Lyne Carrington.

He is currently working as a bandleader of the quartet Voices of Freedom, which performs frequently in the Greater Boston area. The band is in the process of recording its first album, expected to release at the end of the year.
