Samuel Batista is an alto saxophone player from Panama City, Panama. Thanks to the encouragement of Panamanian pianist Walter Smith, Batista joined the Centro Bilingüe Vista Alegre High School marching band in 2005, becoming the first musician in his family.

Batista received the prestigious Presidential Scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music in 2012. After auditioning for the Berklee Global Jazz Institute, he obtained admission to the program in spring 2015.

Batista is bandleader of a quartet that includes Papuna Sharikadze (piano), James Dale (bass), and Eviatar Slivnik (drums). He has played with and learned from musicians such as John Patitucci, Joe Lovano, Terri Lyne Carrington, Ben Street, Oscar Stagnaro, and many others.
