Panamanian saxophonist Samuel Batista began playing at age 14. Later, he joined the Danilo Pérez Foundation, and recently completed his studies at Berklee College of Music. During his time at Berklee, he had the privilege to play and learn from musicians including Pérez, John Patitucci, Joe Lovano, Terri Lyne Carrington, and many more. He is working as a bandleader of his quartet with Papuna Sharikadze (piano), James Dale (bass), and Eviatar Slivnik (drums). The group is performing around the Greater Boston area and is in the process of recording its first album, Voices of Freedom.
