As a continuation of the Refugio del Sonido project, the Mediterranean Music Institute (MMI) will offer a concert at the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, Spain, featuring the songs released as part of the project. 

The concert will open the concert series Fronteras, organized by the Centro Nacional de Difusión Musical (CNDM) of Spain, to raise awareness about the refugee crisis and support the concept of borders as meeting points, common spaces, and areas of shared coexistence. 

Javier Limón, the artistic director of the MMI, will lead this concert, which features student Tonina SaputoChristiane Karam, singer and faculty member; Matthew Nicholl, pianist and associate vice president of global intitatives, and alumni Tali Rubinstein '14, and Layth Sidiq '14. The Berklee musicians will share the stage with Iranian vocalist Tara Tiba, flamenco singer Genara Cortés, and flamenco percussionist Israel Suárez (Piraña).

The Fronteras concert series will continue through May 2017 with concerts by Utte Lemper, Rocío Márquez and Fahmi Alqhai, Jorge Pardo and Pepe Habichuela, Sílvia Pérez Cruz, and Anne Sofie von Otter with the Brooklyn Rider Quartet.
