Join us to hear the latest updates and check out new ventures from the Summer Lab of the Open Music Initiative (OMI). The 19 Summer Lab fellows, including six Berklee students, have worked in four teams to explore the edges of derivative musical works by utilizing distributed ledgers and OMI's new API.

The Summer Lab design challenge includes:

  • Cataloging, attributing, and distributing live DJ mixes.
  • Commercializing mixtapes built from original material and back catalogs.
  • Compensating musicians for visual works using their songs as data.
  • Identifying individuals for their contributions to single tracks in new works.

All OMI members and supporters are encouraged to join us, participate in the discussion, and provide feedback on the early prototypes.
