Maxfield Anderson is a mandolinist, vocalist, songwriter, and composer born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, currently studying at Berklee. Music was a huge part of his upbringing, and he was introduced to the guitar at a young age. He entirely fell in love with music during his middle and high school years as a violinist in school orchestras, musical pits, and youth symphonies. He began exploring worlds outside of classical music and became enamored with bluegrass and the bright, powerful sounds of the mandolin. Since moving to Boston, Anderson took part in forming the contemporary bluegrass quartet, Pretty Saro, winners of the 2018 Telefunken Band Competition at Podunk Bluegrass Festival, and whose debut album Racing Back will be released this July. He received the Fletcher Bright Endowed Scholarship, and has performed at venues and festivals all over the Northeast, including Freshgrass, Grey Fox, Joe Val, and Club Passim.

Anderson draws inspiration from acoustic giants such as Nickel Creek, Crooked Still, Hot Rize, and John Hartford, as well as the incredibly talented group of musicians he's fortunate to surround himself with. His style of music is strongly rooted in bluegrass and country music, with songwriting sensibilities that expand on American music's rich tradition, without fear of wandering off the beaten path every now and then.
