Hindustani Instrumental Music Clinic, Presented by Vinayak Agarwal and Amit Kavthekar
Join us for a clinic on Hindustani instrumental music, presented by Vinayak Agarwal on the mohan veena (slide guitar) and Amit Kavthekar on tabla. The clinic is sponsored by LearnQuest Academy and the Liberal Arts Department at Berklee College of Music.
Agarwal, trained in the mohan veena, has been learning Hindustani classical music under the tutelage of Devendra Mishra. He is equally proficient in the gayaki and tantrakari style of playing and is known for his jhala va.
Kavthekar is a highly sought after tabla player—both as a soloist and an accompanist. He is a talented artist who at age 6 was groomed in the art of tabla playing by maestro Alla Rakha. Since 1991, he has been taught tabla intricacies by Zakir Hussain.
