Currently studying jazz composition and performance, Marie Goetzinger merges the sophistication of jazz theory with the lightheartedness of today’s mainstream music, determined to break down the chasm between the two industries and build a creative space where they can blend into something even more beautiful.

As a vocal member of the artistic community, she says, “We have a job that makes us feel alive—and it is our duty to make sure everyone listening feels alive, too.”

Originally inspired by classic rock records, she was floored when introduced to jazz. The harmony and instrumentation changed her perception of music and bled into her work, redirecting her to the French Nancy National Conservatory of Music, where she studied for six years. During that time, she worked tirelessly with numerous musicians and several bands.

Goetzinger founded the Maria Godsinger Trio, with which she toured the country twice and recorded a full-length album. She also fronted the Nancy Ska Jazz Orchestra big band, all the while composing and later teaching at the Charles Boquet Music School.
