Maria Wadman's love of Brazilian samba, bossa nova, and Cuban son and bolero began young. She grew up listening to her father play the melodies and rhythms on his classical guitar. Her formal musical study began at six years old, when she began classical piano study. In her teenage years she began to perform publicly, singing rather than playing, and realized that voice was her instrument. She began on scholarship at Berklee College of Music in 2013 and will graduate this year with a degree in performance, and a minor in performance studies in Latin music. Her first EP, Brasil Em Mim, released this past year, is a collaborative effort of 16 musicians, whom she considers both dear friends and teachers. Her next project is a collection of original music that fuses all of her musical influences, from Chopin to the classic samba of Cartola.
