Mare Duo (Annika & Fabian Hinsche) with August Watters
Mandolinist Annika Luckebergfeld Hinsche and guitarist Fabian Hinsche, two of Germany's most successful young musicians, will present a concert of contemporary classical music with Berklee faculty mandolinist August Watters.
Annika and Fabian Hinsche, performing together as Mare Duo, have won more than 20 prizes in international competitions across Europe. More than two dozen new compositions have been composed for and are dedicated to Mare Duo, including works by Berklee faculty member Allen LeVines and the late John McGann, a former Berklee faculty member. Both Annika Luckebergfeld Hinsche and Fabian Hinsche are, independently, prize-winning soloists, and assistant professors at the Cologne University of Music in Wuppertal, Germany. Annika also directs the prestigious orchestra Jugendzüpforchester NorthRhine Westfalia.
August Watters is a multi-stylistic, improvising mandolinist and international clinician who has performed and taught extensively in the U.S. and across Europe. He is the founder of New England Mandolin Ensemble, Boston Mandolins, and the Festival of Mandolin Chamber Music. He is also an Emmy-award winning arranger/conductor/composer with extensive studio credits. He has been on the Berklee faculty for 15 years and earned his current rank of associate professor by developing and teaching new curricula designed for the needs of improvising string players.
