The Marco Pignataro Almas Antiguas Quartet is evocative and powerful, blending modern jazz with shades of Mediterranean, folk, and Latin influences with lyrical melodies throughout. The band features Marco Pignataro on tenor and soprano saxophone, Alan Pasqua on piano, Eddie Gomez on bass, and Adam Cruz on drums.

Pignataro is a multitalented saxophone player, composer, and educator. Together with Danilo PĂ©rez, he leads the Berklee Global Jazz Institute (BGJI), a premier jazz center of musical creativity. Previously, Pignataro was director and cofounder of the Jazz and Caribbean Music Department and chair of the Jazz Saxophone Department at the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico. He maintains an active international schedule of concerts, recordings, and clinics, and has shared stages with artists such as Joanne Brackeen, George Garzone, John Patitucci, Rufus Reid, and Kenwood Dennard, among others.

Pignataro performs and tours internationally with several musical groups, including the Marco Pignataro Jazzet and the Eddie Gomez Quintet, which is featured in the widely acclaimed recent album Per Sempre. His latest release, Sofia's Heart, was produced by Gomez and recorded with a stellar group, including Gomez and Billy Drummond. His upcoming release, Almas Antiguas, features Gomez, Pasqua, Cruz, and Garzone.
