Born in a small city in Poland, music has always been a part of Malwina Masternak's life. She started music school at age six and studied classical piano for nine years. She began taking classical voice lessons at 12. She soon realized her passion for jazz and decided to dedicate herself to it. As a young teen, she moved from her hometown to Warsaw, where she started performing in musical theater as well as in many voice competitions, where she won her first award.

In 2010 Masternak began her study of jazz vocals at the Marie Curie-Sklodowska University. She also became a part of the Polish TV show Clash of the Choirs and in 2011, The VoiceMasternak began her studies at Berklee College of Music in 2013. In the fall of 2015 she was accepted into the Berklee Global Jazz Institute (BGJI) and in June 2016, she performed at the Toronto Jazz Festival with students from the BGJI. She was recently distinguished as Człowiek Roku 2017 (Human of the Year 2017) in the entertainment category by Polish newspaper Echo Dnia. Listen to Masternak perform "A Flower is a Loveful Thing."
