Wakey Wakey

Lee DeWyze launched the pivotal stage of what was already a high-profile musical career with his Vanguard Records debut, Frames, in the summer of 2013. What followed was a high-caliber list of praise from the LA Times, Chicago Tribune, Yahoo Music, and Rolling Stone, among many others. The 2010 winner of American Idol, DeWyze played guitar, piano, mandolin, banjo, and drums during the recording sessions. He collaborated with renowned producer and songwriters Toby Gad, Drew Pearson, Matthew Wilder, and Phil Allen as well as mixer extraordinaire Jim Scott. Shows like Nashville, Reign, and Hart of Dixie have all used his music, as has ESPN and several independent films. However, doors really opened when DeWyze penned "Blackbird Song" for The Walking Dead in March of 2014. "Blackbird Song" has accumulated over 50,000 single-unit sales, 2 million collective YouTube views, and over 1.1 million Spotify streams. The song is considered one of the top 10 syncs of 2014 by the Music Guild Association.

Wakey Wakey is the project of singer-songwriter and pianist Michael Grubbs. He has provided music for the series One Tree Hill, which led to an eventual role on the show. A native of Richmond, Virginia, Grubbs began playing piano at the age of five, impelled by maternal instruction and inspired by the works of Brahms, Bach, and Beethoven. He formed an artistic sensibility that was later augmented by his teenage discovery of a more contemporary canon including Billy Joel, Elton John, and Led Zeppelin. This is how he gradually evolved Wakey Wakey’s singular sound.

Nationally acclaimed singer-songwriter Leslie DiNicola has a rare gift for the sonic snapshot. Through the poetic accessibility of her writing style, she captures personal moments with a universal perspective. As a live performer, her commanding vocals and smoldering stage presence have enabled her to sell out solo shows and hold her own alongside renowned artists like Howie Day, Anna Nalick, Tyler Hilton, Jaymay, and October Project. She's also in demand to sing the national anthem at major league sporting events nationwide.
