Guided by her father, Kristalis Sotomayor began playing music when she was 4 years old. When she turned 5, her father took her to a school of music where she started to develop as a musician. She participated in a summer camp with Berklee College of Music in Puerto Rico, then auditioned and won a full scholarship to participate in the Berklee Five-Week Summer Performance Program. She subsequently auditioned and won a full scholarship to study for a bachelor's degree at Berklee in Boston.

Currently Sotomayor continues to study and develop as a flutist and pianist. She has performed with the Symphony Orchestra and played music from the Harry Potter film series at the Berklee Performance Center. She has recorded several movie soundtracks with Berklee's Film Scoring Orchestra. She teaches as a private music teacher and has given several master classes to high school students at a summer camp organized by the Puerto Rican Police Department.

Sotomayor graduated from Berklee College of Music in May 2021 with her Bachelor of Music in performance and music education.
