Jen Starsinic is an old-time fiddler, singer, and award-winning songwriter who won second place in the 2011 BMI John Lennon Scholarship Award for her song “It Fell.” Starsinic was born and raised in Pennsylvania but currently makes her home in Boston’s thriving roots music scene. Her voice has been described as “beautifully human” and her fiddle playing has been lauded as “driving, charismatic, and elegantly focused.”
Acclaimed songwriter and Berklee College of Music assistant professor Mark Simos says that Starsinic’s songs “reveal the emergence of an intelligent and insightful songwriter of note.” In addition to her solo pursuits, Starsinic tours as the fiddler for the David Mayfield Parade; contributes original material, vocals, fiddle, and guitar for the band Lookout Mountain; and has appeared on stage with such luminaries as Darol Anger, Bruce Molsky, Matt Glaser, Kathy Mattea, and Ivan Lins.
