Jazz at the Mosesian: A Jazzy Christmas, Featuring the John Baboian Quartet with Dino Govoni
In its 10th season, Jazz at the Mosesian presents A Jazzy Christmas, featuring the John Baboian Quartet and special guest Dino Govoni '83.
Govoni, one of today's most versatile contemporary saxophonists, learned from tenor sax greats Jerry Bergonzi and George Garzone. He has played or recorded with artists such as Grover Washington Jr., Randy Brecker, Terence Trent D'Arby, Robben Ford, and Mel Tormé. Govoni is an assistant professor in the Woodwinds Department at Berklee College of Music.
Baboian, artistic director for Jazz at the Mosesian, is a professor in the Guitar Department at Berklee, where he has taught since 1980. He has performed in North America, Armenia, Central America, Japan, Russia, South Africa, South America, and Europe. He has performed in concerts and clubs, on radio and television, and even made a cameo appearance in the feature film Ted.
Rounding out the quartet are Bruce Gertz on bass and Jon Hazilla on drums.
