Jazz at the Arsenal presents a night of groovin’ music with the powerfully expressive singer Darcel Wilson and the Rhythm and Soul Project. Concert highlights will include originals as well as music by Bill Withers, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder, and others. An instructor in the Ear Training Department at Berklee College of Music, Wilson has shared the stage with Paula Cole, Lalah Hathaway, Susan Tedeschi, Tracy Bonham, and Blood Sweat and Tears. Her voice can be heard on a multitude of national as well as local radio and television jingles. She’s performed at the BeanTown Jazz Festival, served as lead session singer/ vocal arranger for the Broadway show Brooklyn the Musical and provided vocal production services on recording sessions in London and Los Angeles. Recently, Wilson has been active on the international front, traveling to Japan as a performing clinician at Koyo Conservatory, teaching at the Heineken Jazz Festival in Puerto Rico, participating in a vocal summit in Germany with fellow Berklee faculty members, and performing in Spain along with Nancy Morris, Ken Zambello, Paula Cole, and Livingston Taylor. She’s also worked with Branford Marsalis, Paul Simon, Mark (Marky Mark) Wahlberg, Brad Delp (lead singer of Boston,) Armsted Christian, and Keith Robinson (with Metropolis).
