Jas & Chums is a Boston, Massachusetts–based band that features Afro-beat inspired grooves blended with jazz-influenced harmony and contagious horn lines. The band is an international collective of musicians from Belgium, Israel, the United States, and the United Kingdom, where drummer and composer Jas Kayser calls home.

Kayser moved to Boston when she was 18 to study contemporary writing and production at Berklee College of Music. She is pursuing a master’s degree in contemporary performance at the Berklee Global Jazz Institute (BGJI).

She has played with artists such as Jacques Schwarz-Bart, Ralph Peterson, Luciana Souza, and Donald Harrison, and at venues such as Scullers Jazz Club, Ryles Jazz Club, Wally’s Cafe, and Rockwood Music Hall. Kayser has represented Berklee at the Panama Jazz Festival 2018 with the BGJI sextet and the Next Gen Monterey Jazz Festival 2018 with the Ethan Santos Quintet.

Jas & Chums plans to release its first single, "Stupid on the Beat," featuring Niu Raza, this summer.
