The all-star jazz band Hudson, named after the Hudson River Valley in New York that its members call home, is composed of drummer Jack DeJohnette, bassist Larry Grenadier, keyboardist John Medeski, and guitarist John Scofield. The legends team up to celebrate their musical histories and DeJohnette’s milestone year—he turned 75 on August 9—in a tour de force of creative interplay.

Fans know them as hard-swinging jazz masters, creative jam purveyors, and funky groove maestros—in short, each musician is at the top of his game. True to the spirit of the project’s name, they have collected a repertoire of Hudson Valley materials, including from artists such as Bob Dylan, the Band, Joni Mitchell, and Jimi Hendrix. Their self-titled album and performances feature original compositions, as well, inspired by their surroundings and each other. This is a legendary band with wide-ranging appeal.
