Free Sources is a Boston-based music collective exploring fusion and free jazz with ever-changing levels of electronic influence. The collective was founded in 2016 by Henning (Finn) Rotstein, Angelo Fajardo, and Emery Mesich after a joint decision to collaboratively investigate jazz through electronic means. From its challenging and complex compositions and arrangements to its plans to use live, generative software to compose segments of the performance on the spot, this new collective of young musicians attempts to find the common ground between expressive hedonism of punk and the academic coherence of jazz.
