In this clinic/concert, Piano Department professor Suzanna Sifter will teach her method for discovering upper structure triads for seventh chords. Many practice methods for playing tension-specific voicings will be considered.

Sifter also will discuss the Linear Method, using coupling triads for jazz improvisation. All instrumentalists are welcome.

After the discussion, a stellar faculty group will perform compositions based on upper structure triads, demonstrating the colorful palette of melodic lines.
