CANCELED: This event has been canceled due to weather. Giorgi Mikadze was born in Tbilisi, Georgia, and began playing piano at the age of 5. Mikadze performed a piano concerto with a symphony orchestra for the first time when he was 12, absorbed his classical music studies, and began composing at 14. While attending high school, he discovered Oscar Peterson and quickly fell in love with jazz.
In 2006, Mikadze entered V. Saradjishvili Tbilisi State Conservatoire. After founding a quartet, his career took off quickly. He performed at various jazz festivals including Modern Music Evenings (2008), Art-Gene (2008), Kavkaz Jazz Festival, Black Sea Jazz Festival and the Berklee High School Jazz Festival (2012-13).
He graduated from V. Saradjishvili Tbilisi State Conservatoire in 2010, after which he entered Berklee College of Music on a full-tuition scholarship. Recently selected for the highly competitive Betty Carter Jazz Ahead Program at the Kennedy Center, he has won prizes in many international competitions.
