Matthew Halpin's Earwax Control

The members of Matthew Halpin's Earwax Control have all been part of the groundbreaking Berklee Global Jazz Institute. They will be performing new compositions by the members of the group, and collectively improvising to a series of projected animations and film clips.

Matthew Halpin's Earwax Control is comprised of:

  • Tenor saxophonist Matthew Halpin has performed at the Blue Note and Dizzy’s Jazz Club in New York, the Panama Jazz Festival, the Monterey Jazz Festival, the Newport Jazz Festival, the Berklee BeanTown Jazz Festival, the National Concert Hall of Ireland, the Sligo Jazz Project, the Galway Jazz Festival, the Nancy Jazz Festival in France, Merkin Concert Hall in New York, and the Berklee Performance Center.
  • Pianist Christian Li grew up in the town of Horseheads, New York. Largely self-taught in the jazz discipline until his college years, Li has won several DownBeat magazine Student Music Awards and has attended highly selective programs, including the Skidmore Jazz Institute, the Brubeck Institute Summer Jazz Colony, and the Vail Jazz Workshop. 
  • Currently bassist Jared Henderson is in his sixth semester at Berklee and studies with teachers Hal Crook, Dave Santoro, John Lockwood, Phil Wilson, and Terri Lyne Carrington. He is also becoming a well-established professional within the Boston music community, performing weekly at Wally’s Jazz Café and regularly at venues including Ryles, Club Passim, Scullers, and the Lily Pad. He has performed with artists including Dave Liebman, Terrell Stafford, Julian Lage, Jason Palmer, Christian Howess, and Justin Faulkner.
  • Drummer Roberto Giaquinto has performed at Blue Note NY, Detroit Jazz Festival, BeanTown Jazz Festival, Kimmel Center, Panama Jazz Festival, JEN New Orleans, Boston Music Awards, Regatta Bar, and Nancy Jazz Festival, among others, with musicians like Joe Lovano, John Patitucci, George Garzone, and many more. The most recent projects that Giaquinto has become involved in are a number of groups led by fellow Berklee alumni, such as the Matthew Halpin Quartet, Christian Li Group, Daniel Rotem Trio, and Mike Bono Group
