Quintet East plays the music of the Monterey, California–based group Along Came Betty, a group that began by styling its music after the hard bop groups of the late 1950s and 1960s like Art Blakey and Horace Silver. Subsequently, the band has added to its repertoire original compositions by Bain Smith that have been the basis for the recordings the band has done over the past 11 years, including four CDs, the latest of which was recorded in June of this year. Their recordings are available on iTunes, CDBaby, and Amazon.
