For the first time in history, the exotic scales/modalities of the East and beyond have been brought into a harmonic system, called the Ultra Lydian System of Sonic Organization by Steven Chelliah. This produces a whole new universe of creative possibility within the exploits of 21st-century jazz, and the result is a brand new genre of music called FuzAsian.

This special concert presented by the Professional Writing Division will feature extended music composed and orchestrated by Steven Chelliah for a 21-piece jazz orchestra (with a driving jazz-rock rhythm section) and 15-piece choir, employing the Ultra Lydian concept. This will be Chelliah's first demonstration of FuzAsian in its fully orchestrated form. The musical experience will be energetic, explosive, and a magnificent display of gorgeous dissonant possibilities.
