Tyrone Wells's songs have been featured in television shows (Rescue Me, One Tree Hill, North Shore, What About Brian, Numb3rs, The Mountain, Windfall, Wildfire, Ghost Whisperer, The Bedford Diaries, Three Moons Over Milford, Meet the Barkers) and film (Everyone's Hero).

Wells set a record in 2006 at the National Association for Campus Activities for the most college and university bookings in the history of the convention from a single showcase.

He was born in Seattle and raised in Spokane, Washington, though he has admitted in several interviews that he was not inspired to begin songwriting until his move to California. While attending Hope International University in Southern California, Wells joined the band Skypark. Skypark worked with producers Ed Stasium and Thom Roy.

In 2000 Wells launched his solo career, playing regular acoustic shows in Orange County, California, where he and a small movement of folk, pop, and urban folk artists including Mike Barnet, Danny Vasquez, and Jaycob Van Auken formed a loose coalition called True American Records.

In 2006 Wells signed a recording contract with Universal Records. They rereleased his independent album Hold On on the internet in 2006, and released it in stores in 2007.

In his solo project, Wells has worked with producers Chris Karn and Marc Ford.

Wells released his new solo album, Remain, on January 27, 2009.
