Dancing in the Light makes its second appearance in the David Friend recital hall on July 27 at 7:30 pm. Randy Felts and friends will present a new program of music, video images, and modern dance. Using the synthophone (digital saxophone), the group will take you on a journey to many exotic locations.

Also performing are Michael Farquharson (bass), Ricardo Monzón (drums/percussion), and Lisa Leake (dance).

Felts's synthophone controls synthesizer voices, audio loops, and complex evolving video that is played in response to Leake's movement. The video sources include live images, photos, and art prints, thanks to local artists Dan Hart and Julie Talcott. These images are selected live from notes played on the synthophone and then modified by breath control.

A mixture of themes from classical jazz and original melodic material form the basis of this "cinematic jam." The overall combination of elements is unique and not-to-be-missed.
