The Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Francisco Noya, will celebrate the hope of warmer weather with a concert on Friday, April 10, at the First Church in Boston. Featuring more than 70 of the college's finest instrumentalists, the ensemble will showcase works by internationally and historically renowned composers as well as original compositions by Berklee students.

The Berklee Concerto Competition winner, Cyprian flutist Burak Besir, will perform the virtuosic Carmen Fantaisie; and the winner of the Berklee Composition Competition, Derek Remes, will join the orchestra for the world premiere of his powerful piece Dreams of Flight.

In celebration of the newly-born Video Game Music Club at Berklee, the symphony also will perform music from the popular games Final Fantasy and the Legend of Zelda, arranged by students Shota Nakama and Filippo Beck Peccoz.

The diverse and engaging program will begin with Wagner's overture from the opera Die Meistersinger, and will conclude with the primal and poetic dance Sensemaya by Mexican composer Silvestre Revueltas.

It is sure to be a beautiful night of electric music making at one of Boston's oldest landmarks. The concert is free and open to the public.
