Nettwerk CEO Terry McBride presents the 2009 Zafris Lecture, titled Empowerment in the Digital Music Business: User-Generated Content, Social Networks, and Monetizing "Free" on the Net.

McBride is the CEO and one of three founders of the Nettwerk Music Group, which includes Nettwerk Productions (Canada's largest independent record label), Nettwerk Management (artist and producer management), Nettwerk One (publishing), and Artwerks (graphic and fashion design).

Founded in McBride's apartment in 1984, Nettwerk has corporate offices in Vancouver, Boston, Los Angeles, Nashville, New York, Hamburg, and London. Netterk Management's exclusive client roster includes Avril Lavigne, Barenaked Ladies, Dido, Stereophonics, Sarah McLachlan, Sum 41, Jars of Clay, and Jamiroquai, among many others. Since its inception, Nettwerk has released over 500 albums and sold over 150 million albums worldwide.

In the past few years, McBride has spoken at dozens of international conferences about advances in digital technology, intellectual property rights and the future of music distribution. He was recently recognized as one of the 10 MIDEM Masters at this year's MIDEM conference, recognizing him as one of ten worldwide music executives who are driving the music industry forward.
