Roots Nation/6th Degree
At the ripe old age of 4, Roots Nation is making remarkable strides and grabbing a rapidly growing fan base throughout New England. The band formed in November 2003 when a group of seven seasoned musicians of varying musical backgrounds and interests came together to forward the one style of music they all shared a common love and vision of—Roots Reggae.
In the winter of 2007, the group first got together to record one of Ryan Nava's demo's for a studio project but soon after continued to play regularly at this underground practice studio. It was there that 6th Degree members began really locking in with each other and feeling that the sounds the band was producing were something they wanted to pursue. Soon they began gigging regularly with laid-back beats and thoughtful lyrics while trying to bring integrity back into the forefront of the modern day industry. The talent and versatility of each 6thdegree player leads to a tight sound with influences spanning funk, hip-hop, reggae, dub, and many others.
6th Degree's ongoing goals of creating new music, evolving its sound, and performing as much as possible have kept the band popular in the music scene.
