Korean born pianist Hey Rim Jeon '01, along with special guest vocalist Laura Brunner '06, leads a dynamic group of seasoned musicians, all of whom have a wide range of experience with numerous genre’s of jazz, funk, Latin, and classical music; thus making this a truly eclectic ensemble. Jeon’s original compositions and contemporary arrangements of well-known standards create the dominant atmospheres indicative of her experience playing to festival audiences both here and abroad. Bandmates, Greg Holt on bass; Tim Mayer on saxophones and flute; Sa Davis on percussion; and J. Curtis Warner Jr. '76 on drums, bring to the equation high energy grooves. Their Latin and Afro-Cuban flavors, as well as passionate ballads reflect their collective experiences with noteworthy ensembles ranging from the likes of Freddie Hubbard, Eguie Castrillo, Ran Blake, and Jimmy Smith, to the spirited Boston Pops.
