Five-Week Welcoming Concert: A Celebration of Motown Music

Sunday / July 8, 2012 / 7:00 p.m.
Berklee Performance Center
136 Massachusetts Avenue
United States

Motown was the most successful record company in the history of recorded music. Motown acts performed all over the world and many view the music as America's  contemporary soundtrack for the late 20th century. The music and the artists carried on the traditions of Ray Charles, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Billy Holiday, Fats Domino, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Lena Horne and a host of other artists that created what we refer to today as rock, soul, rhythm music, gospel, jazz, and pop.  Sing along tonight and take notes. The music covered will become part of your permanent repertoire as you cultivate your musical artistry at Berklee College of Music
