A Night of Little Music with Claassen and Inserto

Monday / September 24, 2012 / 7:30 p.m.
David Friend Recital Hall
921 Boylston Street
United States

A night of great music by Harmony faculty Jeff Claassen and Jazz Composition faculty Ayn Inserto performed by the Ayn Inserto Jazz Orchestra as well as more intimate settings. There will be new original compositions as well as unusual arrangements of other tunes exploring new areas of their writing. Claassen will be incorporating some  of the stylized techniques and sounds of Duke Ellington into his own original compositions and arrangements as he has been inspired and interested in his compositional techniques and tone colors. Inserto will be writing music in shorter formats, more focused on orchestration/instrumentation, including woodwinds, various mutes, and doublings. Both will also contribute pieces that are in their signature styles. This promises to be a night of exciting new music guaranteed to entertain. Other faculty members such as Allan Chase will also be featured in the ensemble.
